Connecting dots

We are living on this planet little knowing there are so many things around us sending signals we receive unconsciously on constant basis. Those signals having meanings and connecting all the dots encircling us creates a logical pattern that can change our perspective to see the things around.

We use devices in everyday life letting them decide the directions for us from the time we woke up in the bed till we go to sleep. But all of them are done in a disjointed disintegrated fashion, however very few realizes the value and the message hidden inside in a seamless integration of machines which can create our lifestyle all too connected and comfortable.

This seamless integration of machines is knitted around the concept of Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is altogether a new idea which empowers devices to talk to each other in a smart intelligent fashion. Watches, Microwaves, Dryers, Washing Machines can all be programmed to perform individually but with IoT as underlying platform they can work together in a sequence knowing themselves when to turned on / off by analyzing common signals being shared among them.

The underlying technology is not very new, every device is uniquely identified with a latest IPV6 protocol and their ability to share data can be channelized by using any widespread medium like Wi-Fi but IoT platform connects them together and allows to create an environment that defines the pattern or set of rules through which these devices can communicate to each other defining a particular flow of activities.

With proliferation of smart devices IoT is now embarking upon a journey of becoming a part of our personal dashboard. You can now control devices and command them with gentle touch of your mobile phones.

One of the biggest challenge that comes with this concept is lack of a common platform. Every machine has its own architecture which posses a problem of understanding each other correctly. Research are underway to create communities and consortium to make a common lingua franca of hardwares / softwares that will help devices understand each other and share data at the right point.

Above all the possibilities are endless, the amount of data we have now is more than has been generated in entire history of human race who knows what lies beyond the connectivity of devices striving to make our lives more logical & meaningful than ever before.
